Wow what a whirlwind of a week! With the release of my debut novel BAD BOYZ – Fire in the Stars, the three-year anniversary of Dad’s passing and Father’s Day, it’s been an emotional few days. But in a good way!
I guess I didn’t know what to expect once I hit ‘publish’ on Amazon but the feeling, as I’m reading the ARC reviews and seeing my book listed on Amazon, is surreal. I can't believe I’ve actually done it! I’m a published author. And I’m quickly learning the work doesn’t stop here, it’s only just begun...
I’m stoked to say my book is, I believe, doing great! At the moment of writing this The Boyz has made 24 sales on Amazon with over 700 page reads on Kindle Unlimited, and slowly climbing the ranks in Romantic Comedy, New Adult, & Contemporary Romance on Amazon. The biggest challenge will be getting my book seen, as a debut Indie author I’m virtually unknown so I’m learning the ropes of what’s working in social media with marketing and what isn’t so much.
I’m excited to be attending my first bookish event on the 21st September The Tasmanian Indie Romance Author Luncheon hosted by 41 Degrees South in Deloraine, alongside the very talented Indie romance authors Jessica Challis, Natalie Starkross and Tara Lee. Tickets are selling fast and are available at www.41southtasmania.com.au if you live in Tassie and fancy a Sunday afternoon of yummy cocktails, food, talking romance books & alike, grab your bestie and come along! We would love to meet you.
Where else to from here? I’m currently working on some bookish merch with character art, hoping to get my book into some more Indie bookstores, continue marketing & building up a following (that’s never-ending LOL) while finalising the second instalment of BAD BOYZ – Still Waters Run Deep ready for professional edits in October (publication in Feb 2026).
I want to say a HUGE heart-felt thanks to everyone who has read my book, or is currently reading, sharing my posts on social media and leaving reviews on Goodreads and Amazon—it all makes an amazing difference in helping us Indie authors get seen so again, my sincerest gratitude goes to each and every one of you!
That’s a wrap for this month! I’ll be back blogging in October on an update with how this new exciting journey in the world of Indie publishing is going.
Cheers,
Kate x
